Air Peace Flight Delay Compensation Claims

UK departure? UK261 can apply. Nigeria departure? Usually not under UK261.

Air Peace is a Nigerian carrier. That makes the direction of travel decisive. A delayed or cancelled Air Peace flight leaving Gatwick or Heathrow can fall within UK261. An Air Peace flight leaving Lagos or Abuja for London will generally not, although baggage, refund, rerouting, expenses, insurance and Nigerian-law routes may still matter.

When Air Peace compensation may be payable

For an Air Peace flight departing Gatwick or Heathrow, UK261 applies regardless of the passenger's nationality and regardless of Air Peace being a Nigerian airline. A long-haul passenger who reaches the final destination at least three hours late may be entitled to fixed compensation of up to £520, provided the disruption was within the airline's responsibility and no valid extraordinary-circumstances defence applies.

The same directional rule matters for cancellations, denied boarding and missed connections. The departure airport, operating airline, final destination, notice given and replacement itinerary all need checking.

The return journey is legally different

An Air Peace flight departing Lagos or Abuja and arriving in London is operated by a non-UK, non-EU carrier from outside the UK. It is therefore generally outside UK261. A return ticket does not automatically carry the outbound protection onto a separately assessed inbound flight.

That does not mean nothing can be claimed. A passenger may still have rights to a ticket refund or rebooking under the contract, reimbursement through insurance or card protection, a complaint under Nigerian aviation rules, and Montreal Convention damages for delayed, lost or damaged baggage.

Evidence to keep

  • Booking confirmation, boarding pass and the date and route.
  • Airline delay, cancellation or rebooking messages.
  • Scheduled and actual arrival times at the final destination.
  • Receipts for reasonable meals, transport and accommodation.
  • PIR, baggage tags and purchase evidence for luggage claims.

Air Peace claim questions

Does nationality affect Air Peace compensation?

No. Route, operating carrier, disruption and arrival delay matter; passenger nationality does not determine UK261 coverage.

Do I need the flight number to start?

No. Airline, route and date are enough to begin. A flight number from the booking can strengthen verification.

Is compensation guaranteed?

No. Scope, delay length, notice, cause and evidence must all be checked.

What does MeClaims charge?

There is no upfront payment. A success fee applies only if compensation is recovered.
